About this document

The Water Management Plan 2021-22 informs decisions made by the Commonwealth Environmental Water Holder on when and where to deliver available water to benefit the environment of the Murray–Darling Basin.

The Plan can be downloaded in its entirety, or as individual chapters:

  • Chapter 1: An introductory chapter on how we plan and make decisions to use water for the environment.
  • Chapter 2: An overview of how we will manage Commonwealth water holdings in the Murray–Darling Basin in 2021–22, covering First Nations advice, environmental priorities, water availability and delivery, as well as plans for carryover, transfers, and trade.
  • Chapters 3-14: Scope, for each river valley in the Basin, environmental objectives, recent conditions, supply, demand, priorities and monitoring outcomes/lessons learned.
