The Australian Heritage Council is assessing the Tjoritja/West MacDonnell National Park (including the adjacent Standley Chasm) for potential inclusion on the National Heritage List. The National Heritage List recognises places that are of outstanding heritage value to the nation for their natural, Indigenous and/or historic heritage values.
The Australian Heritage Council's initial assessment for this place is that it might have National Heritage values. A draft map and draft description of potential National Heritage values are available below.

All comments will be taken into account by the Australian Heritage Council in making its assessment and will be provided to the Australian Government Minister for the Environment for consideration when making his decision whether to include all or part of the proposed area in the National Heritage List.
