Have your say on the next Minister’s product stewardship priority list!
Nominations are now open for the 2022-23 list. We need your help to identify products and materials considered to be most in need of product stewardship action.
Submissions will be assessed by the department and the Product Stewardship Centre of Excellence. Input will be sought from state and territory governments. A final list will be tabled in parliament and published on the department’s website before July 2022.
Nominations close at 5pm on Friday 17 December 2021.
Current priority products list
The Minister’s Priority List identifies the products and materials considered to be most in need of a product stewardship approach. The list includes reasons a product has been identified, recommended actions and timeframes for action. It is reviewed every 12 months and the Minister may edit the list to remove products, identify further actions, and add new products. This may include the Minister making a decision to implement regulatory measures where adequate industry action has not been taken.
Publishing the Minister’s Priority List provides certainty and transparency to the community and industry about what is being considered for regulation under the Recycling and Waste Reduction Act 2020.
Previous priority products list
The Recycling and Waste Reduction Act 2020 supersedes the Product Stewardship Act 2011, and requires the Department to publish an annual list of classes of products the Minister has identified as priorities for possible accreditation or regulation. The list sets out the products being considered and why they are included.
