A study into the feasibility of a nationally consistent system for tracking controlled wastes (PDF 908.1KB)
A study into the feasibility of a nationally consistent system for tracking controlled wastes (DOC 875.9KB)

About this report

The purpose of this report is to characterise the current state of hazardous waste tracking and data management in consultation with each jurisdiction, then explore options for developing a more consistent national dataset.

Key findings of the report include:

  • A strong move towards electronic tracking systems
  • Mixed government views on the role of a tracking regime
  • Strong waste industry support for a consistent national tracking system
  • A recent – and planned – activity in many states to upgrade tracking systems.
