About the application
The Department has received an application for a permit to kill, injure, take, trade, keep or move a listed threatened species in a Commonwealth Area under Part 13, section 200 and to kill, injure, take, trade, keep or move a listed migratory species under Part 13, section 215 of the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999 (EPBC Act). The application is for tagging, biopsies, bio-logging and capture of White Shark (Carcharodon Carcharias) and Shortfin Mako (Isurus oxyrhinchus) in Commonwealth Waters offshore from the west coast of South Australia, Eyre Pensinsula and Kangaroo Islands. Carcharodon Carcharias is a listed migratory species and a listed threatened species under the EPBC Act. Isurus oxyrhinchus is a listed migratory species under the EPBC Act.

If the application for a permit to conduct the activity is approved the permit will be valid for a period of up to five years.
