About the application
The Department of the Environment and Energy has received an application for a permit to kill, injure or move various listed marine species and migratory species in a Commonwealth Area under Part 13, section 215 and 257 of the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999 (EPBC Act). The application is to remove or significantly reduce bird presence and guano build up on the unmanned Reindeer platform, offshore WA. The objective of the action is to prevent helicopter bird strike and adverse impacts from guano loading by target birds species listed under the EPBC Act.

If the application for a permit to conduct the activity is approved the permit will be valid for a period of up to five years.
