For more information see:

Nomination forms and guidelines

These forms cover the requirements of the Threatened Species Scientific Committee and EPBC Regulations. Please use the following nomination forms and guidelines to prepare your nomination:

Show all Hide all

Threatened species

For listing or changing the conservation status of a native species under the EPBC Act:

On 3rd November 2014 the Threatened Species Scientific Committee revised its Indicative Thresholds used to judge the subjective terms provided by the EPBC Act criteria for assessment of eligibility for inclusion listing in the categories of vulnerable, endangered and critically endangered in the list of threatened species. The revised Indicative Thresholds more closely align with the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) criteria for assessing a species for inclusion on the IUCN Red List. The prescribed criteria for the Committee to assess a species as eligible for listing as threatened under the EPBC Act outlined in Part 7, 7.01 of the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Regulations 2000 (EPBC Regulations) limit the Committee's ability to fully align with IUCN criteria, particularly under Criteria D (4), where the EPBC Regulations do not provide for listing as vulnerable under IUCN criterion D2 (restricted population).

Threatened ecological communities

For listing or changing the conservation status of an ecological community under the EPBC Act:

  • Threatened ecological community nomination form (PDF - 334 KB) | (DOCX - 88 KB)

The Guidelines and Nomination form are the key documents for preparing nominations. It is advised that you pay particular attention to ‘Appendix 3 – Framework for the prioritisation of nominations’ in the Guidelines before preparing a full nomination.

Key threatening processes

For listing a key threatening process under the EPBC Act:

Note: there is a listed KTP for invasive species, 'Novel biota and their impact on biodiversity' which includes all invasive species. If you are considering nominating an invasive species, please contact the Department at the email address below to discuss your nomination prior to filling in the nomination form.
