Biosecurity Portal

Welcome to an easier way to do business

About the Biosecurity Portal

If you import cargo into Australia, you may need to book a time and place for the goods to be inspected.

Inspections may need to happen on arrival, at the seaport or airport, or at a third-party site that has been approved by the Department.

The new online Biosecurity Portal allows import clients to book and manage their import inspections at any time. Clients can also view directions outlining any required biosecurity actions.

Staged launch

To ensure client needs were met, the Department engaged with industry during the planning and building of the new Portal.

Since mid March 2022, the Portal has been progressively deployed, with clients in New South Wales, Queensland, South Australia, North Territory and the A.C.T. now able to submit their import inspection booking requests via the Portal.

From 23 May 2022 importers, customs brokers, and Approved Arrangements, requesting inspections at sites in Western Australia will also be able to use the Portal.

It will be deployed in Victoria in the coming months and clients will be advised via an Industry Advice Notice.

Benefits

The Biosecurity Portal allows the import industry to book and manage inspections at any time in a single centralised online location. Features include the ability to:

  • Book, modify or cancel import inspection requests
  • View inspection requests and progress updates all in one location
  • Update your profile
  • View directions issued by the department.

As the Portal develops, we’ll add more features that will help importers save time and money.

Accessing the Biosecurity Portal

Once you have completed the secure access pre-requisites, you can use the Biosecurity Portal.
