Some things are changing with commencement of the Export Control Act 2020
From 28 March 2021, Australia’s agricultural, fishery, forestry and food exports will be regulated under the Export Control Act 2020 and the Export Control Rules. Some things are changing.
NPG export certificates
The department is still able to issue export certificates for NPGs if one is required by the importing country. There are small changes to the look and feel of export certificates. For exporters using manual certificates, there is a new application form that must be used from 28 March 2021. More information is available on IAN 2021-03.
Listing of establishments manufacturing or exporters of non-prescribed goods
There are no changes to NPG listing requirements, however applicable forms have been refreshed. More information is available on IAN 2021-05.
Export permits for animal food and pharmaceutical goods
From 28 March 2021, export permits will no longer be required for exports of animal food and pharmaceutical goods. More information is available on IAN 2021-04.
Our role
Your importing country may require:
- certificates or other export documents issued by us
- proof that your goods were sourced, prepared and stored in establishments listed with us.
We are only involved if it is a condition set by the importing country.

Export listed establishments
Some importing countries require producers of non-prescribed goods to be export listed. Goods include:
- blood products
- leather products
- pet food products
- rendered animal products
- skin or hide products.
