We are developing guidance material to promote the understanding and consistent application of the ASEL.
The rejection criteria guidebooks aim to:
- clearly explain the ASEL rejection criteria and provide clarification and technical information to government and non-government users to promote the consistent application of rejection criteria
- improve welfare outcomes for export livestock through better management prior to loading
- provide clear guidelines, including images, for supply chain stakeholders around livestock that aren’t suitable for export or to enter the export supply chain.
The guidebooks are in their beta phase and are available to departmental officers and Accredited Veterinarians (AAVs). You will need a password to access these documents, which can be requested by emailing email@example.com. The rejection criteria will be updated considering feedback and changes to the ASEL standards. Once the documents are finalised, they will be made available more broadly.
During this beta phase, we are seeking feedback and comments from departmental officers and AAVs on the content and layout. We are also seeking additional photographs/footage to improve the guidebooks. Please email feedback and media (including description) to firstname.lastname@example.org. Feedback will be used to update the guidebooks, so we recommend you access the document via the weblink rather than download and save your own copy.
