This advice is further to the Market Access Advice (MAA) MAA1702 circulated on 17 January 2017.
The purpose of this MAA is to advise Australian exporters of changes to the sealing and certification requirements for whole eggs in shell to the Republic of Korea (Korea).
The Department of Agriculture and Water Resources has been notified that, effective immediately, all sea freight and air freight shipments of whole eggs in shell must be sealed using an Australian Government Seal.
To export whole eggs in shell, use certificate EX46EG ‘Certificate as to Condition’ with endorsement number 5268. The number of the Australian Government Seal that is used on the consignment must now be included on the certificate. Until further notice, exporters must record all seal numbers in the goods description field.
(Example text: CHILLED WHOLE EGGS WHOLE EGG CARTONS. SEAL NUMBERS 123456, 345678).
To clear Korean customs, the importer must have an import permit for the shipment.
The requirement that exporters provide two export certificates for review by Korean authorities still applies.
The Australian Government Seal must be applied to the air freight/sea freight containers by a government authorised officer. The consignment details, export certification numbers, seal number and export eligibility must be documented on a load-out form.
To organise sealing of consignments, contact the Audit services. Please note that adequate notice needs to be given to allow scheduling of an officer to conduct the sealing activity.
