Seafood consumption in Australia

Shows that total apparent consumption of seafood in Australia was 355 thousand tonnes in 2019−20. 

Shows the historic trend in the import share of consumption of seafood in Australia between 2009−10 and 2019−20, which fell from 64% in 2009–10 to 62% in 2019–20. 

Shows the historic trend in total consumption of seafood per person, per kilo, between 2009−10 and 2019−20, by commodity. Total consumption of seafood per person reduced from 14.7 kilograms in 2009−10 to 13 kilograms in 2019–20.  The most consumed seafood commodity in Australia in 2019−20 was Other seafood, followed by Salmonids, Tunas, Prawns, Oysters, Scallops, Crabs and Lobsters. 

Shows that the apparent consumption of seafood in Australia in 2019–20 per person was 12.4 kilograms, compared to 5.6 kilograms of sheep and lamb, 19.6 kilograms of beef, 28 kilograms of pig meat and 46.3 kilograms of poultry.
