The website is hosted by ABARES in the Australian Government Department of Agriculture, Water and the Environment, and represents collaboration between many Australian forest-related organisations, including all Australian, state and territory governments.

It serves as a source document for all users and stakeholders seeking information on current knowledge and research on conservation, management and use of the genetic diversity in Australia's forest trees and woody plants.
